Maria’s New Beginning – A Single Mother’s Journey to Stability
August 25, 2024
Maria, a single mother of two young children, found herself on the brink of foreclosure after losing her job due to the economic downturn. With no income and mounting bills, she was overwhelmed with anxiety and fear of losing her home. That’s when she reached out to the Break The Chain Foundation for help.
Maria had always been a hardworking individual, dedicated to providing a stable and loving home for her children. But when the pandemic hit, her life was turned upside down. Her employer, a small business, was forced to close its doors, leaving her without a source of income. As the weeks turned into months, Maria found it increasingly difficult to keep up with her mortgage payments. Despite her best efforts to find new employment, the bills continued to pile up, and foreclosure seemed inevitable.
Desperate and unsure of where to turn, Maria reached out to the Break The Chain Foundation after hearing about our programs from a friend. Our team immediately stepped in, providing her with financial counseling and connecting her with resources to apply for unemployment benefits and emergency relief. Through our Homeowner Grant Program, Maria received a grant that helped cover her overdue mortgage payments, giving her the breathing room she needed to get back on her feet.
In addition to financial assistance, our team worked with Maria to update her resume and connect her with local job training programs. Within a few months, she secured a new job and was able to resume her mortgage payments on time. Today, Maria and her children are thriving, and their home remains the safe haven she always wanted it to be.
Maria’s story is just one example of how Break The Chain Foundation is committed to helping families in our community stay in their homes and achieve long-term financial stability. We are proud to have been a part of her journey and to have played a role in her new beginning.
